On Wednesday 5th March 2025, Her Excellency Dr. Ing Kanthaphavi, Minister of Women’s Affairs, led a delegation of 250 women invited from relevant ministries and institutions at the national and sub-national levels to pay a courtesy call on His Excellency Ouch Borith, Acting President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, on the occasion of celebrating 114th International Women’s Day, March 8, 2025, under the theme “For All Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. and Empowerment.

On behalf of Cambodian women, the Minister expressed her deep gratitude to the leadership and members of the Senate who have always supported the drafting, reviewing, and facilitating the passage of laws that protect the rights and interests of both men and women. The Senate’s continued support for the adoption and implementation of policies to promote gender equality is extremely important and necessary to accelerate the achievement of equitable, inclusive, and sustainable social development.

On this auspicious occasion, His Excellency Ouch Borith, Acting President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, expressed his congratulations and full support for the theme of International Women’s Day 2025, which focuses on “Rights, Equality and Empowerment for All Women and Girls” because it is truly important in line with the global theme and in line with the Cambodian context, reflecting and highlighting the values ​​of women and girls who have struggled, overcome all challenges, and actively participated in development in all sectors and at all levels to benefit from the gender dividend for families, promote economic growth, and enhance social well-being. Finally, His Excellency the Acting President of the Senate requests ministries, institutions, the private sectors, and development partners to continue to contribute to promoting gender equality and strengthening the empowerment of women and girls in all sectors and at all levels, so that they can become valuable resources and have the opportunity to fully participate in the development of society and the nation.
