His Excellency Vongsey Vissoth, Acting Deputy Prime Minister, Minister in Charge of the Council of Ministers, High Representative of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, presided over the ceremony to celebrate the 114th anniversary of International Women’s Day, March 8, 2025, under the theme “Rights, Equality and Empowerment for All Women and Girls.”
On the morning of March 6, 2025, His Excellency Vongsey Vissoth, Acting Deputy Prime Minister, Minister in Charge of the Council of Ministers, High Representative of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, presided over a ceremony to celebrate the 114th anniversary of International Women’s Day, March 8, 2025, under the theme “Rights, Equality, and Empowerment for All Women and Girls” at the Peace Palace, Council of Ministers.
The ceremony was attended by Her Excellency, His Excellency, members of the Senate, the National Assembly, the Royal Government, ambassadors, and ladies and gentlemen, senior officials from ministries, institutions, and subnational levels, as well as more than 900 national and international guests.
His Excellency Vongsey Vissoth spoke and emphasised that in the ceremony, “Increasing the empowerment of women and girls is increasing the empowerment of families and society as a whole.
On that occasion, His Excellency added that I would like to take this rare privilege on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2025, to declare to all women here and to women around the world, “You are powerful, and you are capable, and we will continue together to create a world where all women and girls can live in dignity and freedom and have the same opportunities as men, without discrimination, restrictions, or barriers of any kind.”
Her Excellency Dr. Ing Kanthaphavi, Minister of Women’s Affairs, also said that today’s event is a gathering with profound meaning to reflect and demonstrate that all Cambodian citizens, including women and girls, have been receiving and exercising their rights with equality, with high capacity and will, aiming to participate in building a Cambodia that is strong, resilient, inclusive, and proactive.
